Steinway & Sons, model 1098, 46” Studio Upright

PIANO: Steinway & Sons, model 1098, 46”Studio Upright\Bench, serial #412681

Finish: Ebony Satin Finish.

Description: This Steinway Studio Upright Piano, made inSpring of 1969, was caringly maintained and has light use as it was a second piano in this exclusive home in Coxsackie. The first piano is a Steinway model D -- 9’ Concert Grand. The owner was quite meticulous and the home is a designer showplace filled with antiques.  Of course, nothing need be said about this famous model which is in every well-known music school and conservatory.  This piano plays better than it did new as it has received a high performance regulation and voicing.  Most pre-owned Steinway 1098’s that come on the market are usually worn too much to truly be a real value.  It is rare to find one in like new condition as this one and the richness of the tone of this 1098 Studio Upright is superb!  Very Rare Find!!

Young Chang, U131-C 52” Chippendale Professional Upright

Young Chang U131C

PIANO:  Young Chang,  U131-C 52” Chippendale Professional Upright/Bench,  serial #0257249

Finish:     French Provincial Ebony Polish Finish.

Description:  Young Chang is the premier Korean Piano Manufacturer that became the largest piano manufacturer in the world in the 1990’s – surpassing even Yamaha!  Favored by other manufacturers to build contract pianos for them,  Young Chang has created their reputation based on their deep understanding of European piano building and partnerships with famous makers like Ibach and Steinway. This piano was purchased used in 15 years ago from a dealer in Maryland and was manufactured in Inchon, Korea in March 1987.  It is a successful example of Young Chang quality with hard rock maple pinblock, bridges, and action parts, Royal George Felt Hammers, Solid Sitka Spruce Soundboard and Roslau Strings.  The rare special edition French Ebony cabinet is hand carved and beautiful craftsmanship and material. Current product from Young Chang is made in their Tianjin, China factory as is of much lower quality of both materials and workmanship.  Young Chang suffered from the increase in costs and of the Korean currency (won) and became as expensive as comparable Japanese models.  With this special cabinet, it is impossible to find this type of quality for even double the price!  Great buy!!!

This is the famous U1 model, #1 selling model in the world – also, in impeccable condition.  Made in late 2006, this piano was hardly used.  It is in immaculate condition and has a huge tone and very even touch and sound.  We only had to regulate the action and voice the hammers as it needed little else.  Most Yamaha professional uprights sold used are usually heavily used and most generally tired.  This piano was purchased new downstate in 2007 by a local executive for his family to learn piano.  This is the latest scale design with the patented slow fall fallboard mechanism. The Yamaha U1 is the most preferred model of most pianists and institutions. This piano has been brought to concert standards and is voiced in the German manner to produce a very warm, resilient, expressive sound.
